Ruins of King Herod's Palace

Great View from the top

Today we went 20 miles south to find King Herod's Palace. From the top it is the best view I have seen in Jordan, problem is you must walk to the top. A big storm came through last night and it was raining off and on but we made it up and back and kept the cameras dry. On a clear day there is a good view of Jerusalem on the other side of the Dead Sea.

This is were Salome did her famous dance and was given the head of John the Baptist. His tomb is in the mosque in Damascus but his entire body is not there as part of the skull and one arm are in the palace in Istanbul. No rest for the saints.
