Near Gladstone there is a trail to the mine ruins in Prospect Gulch. This leaning building and several others nearby is full of core samples. The two holer to the left has a great view down the valley. Further up the trail becomes very difficult due to washouts from the recent rains but it leads to a building with a large boiler and steam engine connected to a winch to lift oar from a vertical shaft.
