Grosvenor Arch

The plan was to take the Cottonwood Trail north from Highway 89 up to Cannonville. The ranger in Kanab, however, showed us photos of a washout that was over 8 feet deep and there was no plans to repair it due to the oncoming storm. On the north end there were road closed signs but we were able to make it as far as Grosvenor Arch before turning back.

Bryce Area Slot Canyon

Start of the Canyon

In the Narrows

Looking West

The end of the first Narrows

One of my favorite slot canyons and unlike most desert canyons it has a running stream year round. When there has been a lot of rain the trail in can be difficult and once in April snow kept me out. The last time I was here there were the remains of a deer that had been killed and partially eaten by a mountain lion lying in the stream.

Fall SW Photo Trip

Lee's Ferry

Coral pink Dunes in Utah

Started the fall trip from Flagstaff where I was joined by another photographer from Santa Fe. The first stop going north from Flagstaff was at Lee's Ferry where I have great memories as the starting place of Grand Canyon raft trips. Definitely got to do another one.

Next it was a stop at the Pink Sand Dunes on the way to the Bryce Canyon area. The plan is to spend a couple days in the area, not to visit Bryce Canyon but the areas to the east. There are a number of great 4WD trips just east of Bryce. With the recent rains some trails are washed out but we hope to find some open.
